Bradley's GQ Award speech

"Hollywood's next great leading man," says Charlize Theron as she introduces GQ's Internation Man Of The Year, The Hangover and Limitless star Bradley Cooper. "International Man: I feel a lot of pressure," quips Cooper before adding: "I feel a lot of honour being up on the same stage as the soldiers that were just up here." Bradley honored in London by Charlize Theron

Bradley Cooper was in good-looking company Tuesday night at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in London, where the dapper actor received the International Man accolade.
Presenting him the honor? His friend Charlize Theron, who happens to be in town filming her new movie, "Snow White and the Huntsman," in which she plays the Evil Queen.

Reps for the event say the actors arrived and left separately but were friendly as they shared a table at the ceremony, which was held at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.
Other honorees at Tuesday's ceremony included Duran Duran (who received a Lifetime Achievement award) and Hugh Laurie (honored for his music).

The Place Beyond The Pines at Toronto Film Festival

This weekend, Sierra/Affinity will screen the first footage from Derek Cianfrance’s Ryan Gosling-Bradley Cooper starrer The Place Beyond the Pines. The generational thriller made waves when introduced in script form at the Cannes Film Market in May, securing its first round of key territory deals, including the U.K. and France. (WME and CAA are co-repping domestic rights, which are still available).

StudioCanal nabs The Place Beyond The Pines

European heavyweight StudioCanal has snapped up French distribution rights to Derek Cianfrance's "Place Beyond the Pines."
The Vivendi-owned outfit also has U.K. rights to "Place Beyond the Pines," which it will distribute via its Brit arm, Optimum Releasing.

"Place Beyond the Pines," starring Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Rose Byrne and Eva Mendes, is lensing. Story concerns a motorcycle stunt rider who considers committing a crime to provide for his family. Cianfrance penned the script with Ben Coccio and Darius Marder; Lynette Howell and Sidney Kimmel produce with Alex Orlovsky and Jamie Patricof.

Sierra/Affinity is handling international sales and also launched the pic to buyers in Cannes.
The acquisitions of these films, both hot tickets on the Croisette this year, further indicate StudioCanal's strength in the independent sector.

The company fully financed pics including "The Last Exorcism" and "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy," a Working Title production set to preem in Venice next month, and its healthy financial structure enables it to snap up premium titles.

On Sept. 1, the company is rebranding its Brit and German subsidiaries, Optimum Releasing and Kinowelt, bringing them under the StudioCanal moniker.

Paradise Lost to be released in 2013

"Paradise Lost", John Milton's epic poem about Lucifer's fall from grace and the corruption of Adam & Eve, is gearing up for a movie adaptation, under the helm of Alex Proyas ("I, Robot"). Now, Warner Bros, the studio behind the movie, has confirmed that the movie is set to be released in the end of 2013.

The movie is planned as an action epic focused on the war between Lucifer's forces and the angels led by Michael for control of Paradise, with many aerial battles, and will be filmed using the same motion-capture technology from "Avatar", in addition to being rumored to be filmed in 3D. So far, the only actor confirmed to appear is Bradley Cooper ("The Hangover"), who'll be playing Lucifer.

Bradley in Kaylien movie

Actresses Olivia Wilde, Eva Longoria, and Zoe Saldana are the three latest actresses moving behind the cameras to direct for Glamour magazine's Reel Moments project, WWD reports.
The actresses will each direct a short film based on real-life stories of Glamour readers. The project, being underwritten by Clarisonic, began in 2005 and has already attracted names like Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston.

Saldana’s story, “Kaylien,” revolves around an autistic girl. The film was shot earlier this month and stars Bradley Cooper and Malin Ackerman. Saldana also enlisted the help of her Avatar colleagues. “It took three days to shoot because even though it’s short, it was the first Glamour film with motion capture, stunts, and special effects,” Saldana said.

Limitless: Cinema at its finest

Blu-Ray review by FlickDirect

What if there was a drug out there that would increase your IQ to over four digits?   Would you take it?  If so, what would you do with your life?  Relativity Media's new film, Limitless, based on the story, Dark Fields, by Alan Glynn, aims to answer this question and more.

The film follows the life of one Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper, Alias, The Hangover), a freelance writer who cannot seem to catch a break in life.  During one of his mid-day drinking binges, Eddie runs into his ex-brother-in-law, Vernon (Johnny Whitworth), who presents Eddie with a new designer drug of a lifetime, NZT.  Once on this wonder drug, Eddie's life changes 180 degrees for the better, making the impossible seem possible.  Despite all NZT's positive characteristics, it still does not seem all is right in Eddie's life; and the drug could kill him in the process of trying to achieve all of his goals in life.

While the premise and the novel provide a great starting point for the film, it is the cast and director that truly make this film shine.  Director, Neil Burger (The Illusionist), does wonders with this film, not only telling the story through the actors, but through the color palette of the film as well.  When our protagonist Eddie has become more "clear" on NZT, the palate changes from a dull orange/red to a sharp blue tone that also helps move the story along.

Aside from Neil Burger's direction the cast of Limitless is top notch.  Bradley Cooper gives the best performance of his career breathing life into Eddie Morra and his numerous personality changes that occur throughout the film.  While supporting actors Robert De Niro (Ronin, Casino), Abbie Cornish (Sucker Punch), and Andrew Howard (The Hangover Part II), play their roles with such passion and skill, it feels they were the only choices possible to be cast into these parts.

While the film and the book that it is based on are amazing pieces of work, the Blu-ray release is unfortunately a mixed bag.  The video of Limitless is encoded in an amazing looking AVC 180p 2.40:1 transfer which perfectly nails Director Neil Burger's intentions – having the look and feel of the movie while displaying even the finest detail and with solid black levels. While not being an action film, the DTS-HS Master 5.1 track could certainly give most a run for their money with having a crisp clean sound that resonates perfectly through your home theater room.

Other than the film, the Limitless Blu-ray boats very few features for one to get excited about.  Aside from containing the now normal digital copy of the film (one would hope they would soon make these higher quality than 480p), the Blu-ray contains two fluff  "making of" pieces, and alternate ending  (more or less the same as the final cut), and an unrated version of the film (approximately 1 minute longer).  It also includes an audio commentary by Director Neil Burger.

If you are already a fan of the book or film Limitless, then this Blu-ray release is a must have for your library until a more complete edition is brought to market.  If you have not seen the film or read the book yet, then Limitless should go to the top of your purchase/rental list, as it is one of the better films that have come out of 2011.

Bradley Exits 'The Crow'

“As the crow flies” may denote the shortest route from one place to another, but the movie version of The Crow is proving to be less than a straight shot.
Relativity is remaking the supernatural action movie based on the 1990s comic and has set Juan Carlos Fresnadillo to direct.

Bradley Cooper was to have played the title character but sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that he has now exited due to scheduling conflicts. Cooper has David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook shooting this fall and then dives straight into Legendary’s Paradise Lost, which shoots first quarter next year…the exact time Relativity plans on making the high-priority Crow.

Bradley is Fearne Cotton's guest

'Fought' For Limitless Role

Bradley Cooper "fought" for his role in Limitless after he was blown away by the "unbelievable" script.
The actor plays a man who can access 100 per cent of the brain's power in the action thriller, based on a book by author Alan Glynn.
Cooper loved the script as soon as he read it - and he did everything possible to ensure he landed the lead role.

He tells Bbc Radio 1, "Instantly (I wanted the role) - I fought for it, I wanted to do it so badly. (Screenwriter) Leslie Dixon wrote an incredible script, an adaptation of a book called The Dark Fields by an Irish man named Alan Glynn. I loved it. The script just read like a house on fire, it was unbelievable.
"I thought, 'God, if anyone can ever capture that on film it'd be great'."

Phone Call Break-Up

Bradley Cooper was left heartbroken on a dream holiday to Peru after his girlfriend dumped him over the phone during the trip.

The Hangover star ventured to the South American country when he was younger, but the getaway turned sour when he failed to acclimatise to the tropical environmental and needed an oxygen tank to aid his breathing.

And the holiday turned from bad to worse for Cooper when his then-girlfriend called him up - and dumped him over the crackly phone line.

He tells Bbc Radio 1 host Fearne Cotton, "The worst one (relationship experience) was I was dumped overseas on a bad line of a telephone. I was in Peru with an oxygen tank because I hadn't acclimatised properly.
"I was being dumped... it was done like with a delay. (She said), 'I'm happy on my own'. 'What, okay...' It was the worst."
But Cooper, who is currently single, has no hard feelings towards his ex, adding: "She's a sweetheart though."
