The wolfpack has made sure that “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” won’t be the only film to set global box-office records this summer.
According to Warner Bros., “The Hangover Part II” has bested the original “Hangover” for a new global record for an R-rated comedy.
Warner Bros. announced Sunday that the sequel to the 2009 blockbuster “The Hangover” has grossed more than $232 million domestically and $256 million overseas for a global take so far of $488.6 million.
“The Hangover” was the previous record-holder with a global take of $467.5 million.
Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis reprise their “Hangover” roles for “The Hangover Part II,” which mostly takes place in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Todd Phillips-directed film, which opened May 26, finished fifth at the domestic box office this weekend with an estimated take of $9.6 million.
